Run. Deanna. Run

By Deanna

It's officially been 10 months since my last race.

After the More Half Marathon my 6th half marathon, wherein my performance was a complete and utter disaster I vowed that I wouldn't race again until I got fit and shed the rest of my weight (hanging onto to 20 pounds).

I've continued to run for those ten months about three times a week, I strength trained here and there.

I never "quit" running.

I never "quit" working out.

I never "quit" McDonald's french fries either and I'm still hanging onto these pesky 20 pounds.

I finally broke down and signed up for a race in December.

I ran a Ho Ho Ho Holiday 5K. I ran it in 33.46. My pace was 10:52.

My goal was 33 minutes but I was VERY happy with these results as the training leading up to this race I was averaging about 35 minutes for 3 miles.

This race helped me find my running mojo. I realized how much I MISSED racing.

I missed the excitement of the starting line.

I missed "clipping people" off in my head as I passed them (I didn't miss being passed!)

I missed mentally pushing myself.

I missed sprinting to the finish line.

That day, I decided to register for my 4th More Half Marathon, my 7th half marathon in total.

I'm so looking forward to the training.

I also look forward to fartleks (you giggled didn't you? admit it! I giggle everytime I write/read that)  intervals and trying my hand at mile repeats.

I look forward to the long runs.

I look forward to racing.

I'd be lying if I didn't say I had a goal or was yearning for a PR as runners we all want PR's.

I'm mostly looking forward to not worrying about my weight during this training and just worrying about having fun when I race.

'Cause it is what it is.
